RDAs: How RDAs Work

- RDAs are a straightforward way to vape. The liquid drips straight onto the wick and coil, where it is evaporated before reaching your lips. This translates to excellent flavour and vapour production, which is frequently difficult to match.
- It's simple to adjust the flavours. With an RDA, you don't have to empty your tank to change flavours. You may change the wick yourself whenever you want.
- Tanks are more labor-intensive. When vaping with an RDA, you have a lot more to do because you have to drip on a regular basis.
- They have a proclivity towards leaking. Leaks are a regular problem with RDAs in especially unless you smoke whatever is there before putting your RDA away.
What Are RTAs?
Rebuildable tank atomizers, or RTAs, are one of the most common forms of rebuildable tanks. An RTA is similar to an RDA, except that it has a tank that surrounds the deck and supplies liquid to it. Although the deck is enclosed in a chamber, small apertures let juice to get through to the wick and coil. In principle, they function similarly to standard vape tanks, except that the coil is made by you.
RTAs: How RTAs Work
In a typical vape tank, the atomizer head (which houses the coil and wick) is located in the center of the deck, with a central tube leading up to the mouthpiece. RTAs are similar to RTAs, except that the atomizer head is actually a tiny deck on which you create your coils.
The deck is usually a scaled-down version of an RDA deck. The primary distinction is that under-coil airflow is far more common because it is the only area where air may truly originate. Another significant distinction is that e-juice is frequently supplied to the wicks and coils through small channels. These are normally placed on the deck's borders, where your wicks will naturally fall.
As a result, your coils and posts will be connected in the same way, and your wicks will rest in the little juice channels. The deck is encased in a small chamber, which feeds directly up to the central tube and your mouthpiece instead of a top cap.
When you screw the chamber on and fill the tank with e-juice, it seeps into the channels and soaks your wicks.
Of all the types of rebuildable tanks, RTAs work the most like ordinary sub ohm tanks.
- Excellent performance. They're virtually as good as RDAs, and they're occasionally even better.
- While driving or doing other things, it is safer to use. Without the need to drip, you may comfortably vape while driving or working.
- Airflow via the coils. Although RTAs do not have side airflow like RDAs, the under-coil airflow systems are excellent for clouds and flavour.
- It's more difficult to set up. Because RTA decks are frequently small, rebuilding and, in particular, wicking can be difficult.
- The quality of your work isn't always consistent. Some RTAs can have inconsistency in performance if you don't wick your coils properly.
- Leaking is a common occurrence. Leakage through the air holes is common with under-coil airflow configurations.
What Are RDTAs?
The acronym RDTA refers to a rebuildable dripping tank atomizer. As the name implies, this is a cross between an RTA and an RDA, and they're sometimes referred to as "auto-drippers." However, this category isn't well defined, and there are significant overlaps with other sorts of rebuildable tanks, such as RTAs and Genesis-style devices, which we'll discuss momentarily.
RDTAs: How RDTAs Work
RDTAs were originally similar to RTAs, but they had a system that let you to manually send e-juice to your wick and coils (like the 3D pictured above). The drip tip, for example, may act as a plunger, allowing you to pump e-juice from the tank onto the deck by pressing down on it. They'd function similarly to an RDA, but with the dripping replaced with a semi-automated process.
The main issue with these types of rebuildable tanks is that they don't always work. The intricate designs including plungers and moving parts frequently failed. This is why traditional-style RDTAs aren't as common these days.
The deck is above the tank, and juice is drawn upwards onto it, similar to RTAs. In actuality, most RDTAs now have holes punched through the deck, which you tilt to £auto-drip£ more juice.
- They (usually) do a good job. The original designs may be hit-or-miss, but overall, RDTAs, particularly the current type, function admirably.
- RTAs are more difficult to construct. The building deck on RDTAs is more like that of an RDA, which makes the procedure considerably more forgiving.
- It's easier to replenish than RDAs.
- True RDTAs are difficult to come by. Because the original-style RDTAs didn't always work, they're hard to come by.
- Gravity is on your side. Tanks are located below the deck on modern-style RDTAs, which means gravity works against you when it comes to wicking.
